James 1: 27
Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
In Haiti 60% of children are unable to attend school, due to lack of resources. This is depriving the community of chance of socioeconomical improvement in the future.
Approximately 377,000 children between the age of 6-11 are not in school. Children who live in rural areas are the most affected because 85% of chools are private and school fees represent a huge cost for most Haitian families.
Today annual school fees amount to 300$ US. In the Community of Gros-Morne, children are faced with this problem and they are not able to attend school because their parents do not have the means to pay for their education. In addition, there is a significant population of homeless children in this community, causing an illiteracy rate that is upwards of 60% in this community. This in turn aids the juvenile deliquency to rise which contributes to violence and danger in our community.
RMH has worked hard to create a presence in this ccommunity and has witnessed an enthusiasm and desire i n the children to go to school and achieve their dreams to be leaders in their community. They want to see a transformation in Haiti. The people of Haiti are eager for a change in the current situation.
